Personal Recovery Mentor

The AP Ceoncept

What is a Mentor in Addiction Recovery

Addiction often results in feelings of loneliness, particularly when entering a treatment program. In addition to your 24-hour care support team, your recovery mentor at Aston Private is there to support and guide you through your recovery journey. Your mentor is often someone who has experienced addiction recovery themselves.

Your personal recovery mentor will:

  • Share their personal recovery story to give show that change is possible.
  • Provide practical guidance to help you navigate treatment.
  • Model healthy coping strategies—demonstrating how to manage stress, triggers, and setbacks.
  • Build accountability by regularly checking in with you and celebrating recovery milestones.

Meaningful Connection

Meaningful connection involves genuine, supportive relationships that meet your emotional needs in healthy ways. Developing supportive relationships helps to reduce reliance on substances or addictive behaviours.

Your personal recovery mentor will help you through the process from feeling alone in your struggle to being connected to a recovery support network. This may include reconnecting with family or friends and reinforcing your own individual strengths.

The Role of Your Personal Recovery Mentor at Aston Private

Mentorship is an integral part of your recovery program at Aston Private. Your mentor will act as the go-to support person for any difficulties you are experiencing with your recovery, both while in-residence, and during the Aftercare stages of your program.
